Onguma Tree Top Camp

Onguma Tree-Top Camp is a small, intimate camp in Onguma Game Reserve, which is situated on the eastern border of Etosha National Park, Namibia. The Camp is designed for an intimate wildlife experience, catering for a maximum of eight guests. It offers a wonderful secluded retreat for romantic couples, small groups of friends, or a family. Tree Top is ideal for the exclusive use of small parties travelling together.
The camp is built on wooden stilts overlooking one of the most beautiful waterholes in the Onguma Game Reserve and offers complete seclusion in the heart of the Namibian wilderness. The birds and animals visiting the waterhole quickly become part of the fabric of your days. The guest areas consist of a deck overlooking the waterhole, a lounge, dining room and interactive kitchen. The staff will take care of your every need, while you luxuriate in the splendour of the camp.

Onguma Tree-Top Camp consists of four thatched rooms with canvas walls, offering magnificent views of the surrounding wilderness. Guests can partially open one side of their rooms to let the natural surroundings into their living spaces. Each room has its own private en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower, as well as a private deck with a view over the waterhole. From the decks, guests can view the constant stream of birds and animals to the waterhole, experience the intoxicating sights, sounds and smells of the bush, and witness sublime sunsets.
The rooms are luxurious, with crisp linen, down duvets, and cosy blankets for colder days.

The Reserve boasts over thirty different animal species, including lion, giraffe, zebra, plains game, leopard, hyena and the endangered black rhino. Predators, although not easy to spot, are nevertheless common residents of the area. Lions are frequently seen and often heard. There is a healthy black rhino and leopard population and hyenas are often spotted.
There are over 300 bird species at Onguma. The Reserve boasts the biggest breeding colony of white-backed vultures in Namibia. During the summer months Onguma becomes a bird-watchers’ paradise, with thousands of species migrating to wetlands created by the seasonal rains.
Onguma offers guests an incredible opportunity to learn more about the elusive Black Rhino. With numbers dropping and poaching in Africa increasing, a Rhino Research Drive on Onguma is a rare chance to find out more about these endangered creatures. The three-hour drive with a resident researcher takes guests to collect data at rhino middens, download images from the camera traps situated at popular waterholes and inspect dung to find out where the animals are grazing. Due to the dense terrain, black rhino sightings are not guaranteed, but searching and tracking them is all part of the experience.
