Puku Ridge Camp, Zambia

Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park exhibits an amazing number of diverse ecosystems with a corresponding diversity in plant, bird, and animal life. On the edge of an escarpment, is the luxurious and secluded Puku Ridge Camp, named after the puku antelope that graze in the fertile floodplain in front of the camp.
The elevated camp blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, and offers panoramic views over the expansive game-filled plain. There is a sense of timelessness and being at one with the world at the intimate Puku, where impeccable service and comfortable luxury combine in a pristine wilderness to assure guests of an unforgettable safari.

The seven generously sized safari tents have large picture windows opening onto private decks overlooking the broad game rich floodplain. The en-suite tents have a full indoor bathroom with tubs offering wilderness views, as well as a forest-shaded outdoor shower for secluded starlit bathing. Indulgent eco-friendly products are used to minimise Puku’s carbon footprint and pamper the guest.
Comfortable twin or king size beds, swathed in mosquito netting, afford guests views of astounding sunrises.

There are 60 different animal species and over 400 different bird species in South Luangwa National Park. The only notable exception to the Big Five is the rhino, sadly poached to extinction. The park is renowned for its large elephant herds and huge pods of hippo. Endemic species such as the Thornicroft’s giraffe and Cookson’s wildebeest are frequently sighted, as are leopards.
The region is a bird watcher’s paradise, with about 400 of Zambia’s 732 species of birds, including 39 birds of prey and 47 migrant species.
