If you have a little more time available, this is the ultimate Luangwa experience. This is an example of the type of Safari that can be arranged, as all arrangements are tailor-made.
Day 1 and 2: Kapani Lodge
Upon arrival at Lusaka Airport you will be met by our representative, and escorted onto your domestic flight to Mfuwe Airport, which takes about an hour.
Your safari guide will meet you at Mfuwe Airport and drive you to Kapani Lodge, where you arrive in time to freshen-up before brunch. You will have the rest of the day to relax, until game viewing this afternoon which will be by vehicle. You stop for sundowners in the Park and then continue with the second half of the drive, which is conducted after dark in search of nocturnally active species such as the genet and civet, the porcupine and honey-badger. It is during these early evening hours that the cats, including lion and leopard, are most active, patrolling their territories, looking for prey.

Day 3 and 4: Luwi Bush Camp
After your two nights at Kapani you will be transferred deep into the National Park to Luwi Bush Camp, a rustic, yet comfortable camp set in the shade of large trees close to a permanent lagoon. The rooms at Luwi have grass walls and thatched roofs with bathrooms that are open to the trees and stars above.
This afternoon your professional guide will introduce you to the armed escort scout who will accompany you on your first real walking safari. Your guide will take time to point out the tracks and signs that he uses to interpret the bush that you are walking through. This first excursion will be a taste for what is to come. Your first night in the bush camp is likely to be accompanied by the noises of animals around camp. This is no nature trail, this is the real thing, you are tracking big game through the African bush, on foot!

Day 5 and 6: Nsolo Bush Camp
On your second morning at Luwi you head out from camp as you did on the previous day but this time your guide will walk you down the Luwi river course. Your destination is Nsolo, the second of your bush camps.
After a few hours gentle walking you will reach the new camp. A cool drink is on hand, brunch is waiting, and your bags are already in your room. Your home for the next two nights will be a raised deck with grass walls on three sides and a tall, cool thatched roof. Once more your bathroom is open to the sky above.

Day 7 and 8: Kakuli Bush Camp
This next move takes you further down the Luwi River, again on foot, to its confluence with the main Luangwa River and to Kakuli Camp.
This camp is tented and has stunning views along a stretch of the Luangwa that is home to over five hundred hippo.
Most of the game viewing is still on foot although there are more roads in this area so it is possible to use vehicles and with a dense population of leopards in the area the night drives are usually most rewarding.

The last of your camps is set under the shade of immense ebony trees. The individually designed tents each have a bath inside as well as an outside shower and toilet. The main chitenge houses a small pool alongside the bar and sitting area and meals are usually taken on the river bank.
The game in this area of the Park is abundant, so if there is anything that you have yet to see, the chances are you will find it here.
