Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport you will be met by an Falcon-Safari.com representative. Pick up your rental car, and proceed with the three and half hours drive to Hannah Lodge.
Near Ohrigstad, Hannah Game Lodge is ideally situated for those who wish to explore the Lowveld and discover all its treasures – God’s Window, Pilgrims Rest, Three Rondavels, and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. They are a mere 90 minutes drive from the Kruger National Park and a comfortable three and a half hours from Johannesburg.
The 8000 hectares of this scientifically managed reserve abounds with plains, hills and mountains accommodating diverse habitats. Apart from Rhino and Buffalo, some 17 species of antelope can be seen, including the very rare Sable Antelope, Tsessebe, Mountain Reedbuck, Springbok, Eland and Gemsbok to name just a few.
Numerous Leopards have also been identified in the area, but are understandably, not often seen. For the vivid bird watcher, there are over 250 species of birds on the reserve – it is therefore important to pack a pair of binoculars when visiting Hannah. Apart from the expected typical bushveld birdlife, you can see ostriches and if you are in luck, a Secretary Bird stalking its prey in the grass. 3 Game drives depart daily.
The morning drive departs at 6am in summer and 6:30am in the winter months. Coffee and tea are served prior to departure and breakfast is enjoyed after the morning drive. The afternoon drive departs at 4pm in the winter and 4:30pm in the summer months. The game drive excursion lasts for approximately an hour and a half. Game walks are conducted on prior arrangement.
Overnight Hannah Lodge – inclusive of dinner and breakfast
Depart Hannah Lodge this morning after breakfast to the Karongwe Game Reserve, renowned for exceptional game viewing. The photographic opportunities are tremendous, ranging from the big 5, awesome skies at sunset, the impressive Drakensberg mountains that change hue each day, the abundant plains game, the fascinating birdlife to the tiny insects that scurry around.
Check into Shiduli Game Lodge at 14h00 (guests arriving earlier are welcome to relax on the deck or in one of the lounges and have refreshments). Guests are welcomed at reception with a welcome drink. After a quick briefing the guests are taken to their rooms to freshen up and relax. Lunch will be ready on the deck.
At 16h00 after tea/coffee guests depart from the departure deck on their safari in open land rovers to view the magnificent game for which Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Before sunset the ranger and tracker lay a small table in the bush for guests to enjoy the sunset and a sundowner amid the backdrop of the sounds of the bush.
Upon returning to the lodge guests can freshen up for the evening dinner which is served at 20h00. The magnificent food at Shiduli has been much commented on and guests will enjoy the culinary delights Shiduli has to offer. The guests are taken to their rooms and can enjoy a good nights rests in crisp white linen and flowing mosquito nets.
Guests that indicate they would like to do the morning drive will be given a wake up call at 05h00 by the ranger. Tea and coffee will be served on the departure deck at 5h30. The fresh morning air on an open game drive and the possibility of viewing the big 5 closely makes this an awesome and unforgettable experience. Experienced rangers and trackers share their knowledge of the African bush.
Once guests have returned from their morning drive, a sumptuous breakfast is served from 09h00. Guests are given the opportunity to do a morning bush walk with an experienced ranger to learn more about tracks, the trees and their special meaning in the Shangaan culture.
Lunch is served at 13h45 after which guests are given a chance to relax at the pool and read a book from our extensive library. There are three different lounges to choose from to relax, play a game of chess or have a drink at the bar.
In the afternoon at 15h30 the night drive will depart at the departure deck after serving tea and coffee. After tracking the big 5 a sundowner, briefing of the stars and a chance to see the small but very important nocturnal animals ensues.
Should the group be fairly large this evening will have a dinner in the Boma (bush) where the guests will be treated to the tribal dancing around the fire. The glow of and evening fire and the tribal drums in the background is a very unique experience very typical of the bushveld.
The following morning will include one more game drive and a continental breakfast before you depart back to OR Tambo International (Approx 6 hour drive). Drop off the rental vehicle.

By prior arrangement Shiduli can make a pre-packed breakfast for groups that wish to leave earlier. They often do bush breakfasts for the smaller groups – this is a welcome surprise in the bush – weather permitting. Trips to nearby attractions can also be arranged easily.
