11 Day African Cultural Experience

11 Day African Cultural Experience

Leaving behind the city of Johannesburg we venture deeper into the Central Kalahari in Botswana where we will get to know the fascinating San people. We will also join our San guides for a guided walk that will introduce us to the many secrets of their survival in the Kalahari Desert. We take in the sights and sounds of the Okavango Delta from a peaceful position in a mokoro (dugout canoe) before leaving for the Chobe National Park where we will watch elephants and other animals play on the banks of the river from the comfort of our sunset boat cruise. We visit the adventure capital of Victoria Falls before heading to the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, the shores of Lake Malawi and the paradisiacal beaches of Zanzibar Island. In Zanzibar you will have ample opportunity to create some island memories. Rent a scooter and explore the many attractions on offer, go scuba diving or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun. We end our tour with a two night camping excursion to the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The Serengeti offers an authentic and idyllic wilderness safari that can not be left out on an overland adventure tour!

Are you seeking a tour that is rich in game viewing experiences, but also has a twist of culture? Then this is an example of a tour that encompasses all of these aspects by visiting Cape Town, Victoria Falls and Katekani Tented Lodge Safari in Kruger National Park. You will start off the tour in Cape Town, with the option to participate in a Cape Point or Winelands tour. After enjoying your time in Cape Town, you’ll experience what else Africa has to offer when you visit Victoria Falls and the Kruger National Park.

This hotel is ideally situated, with Table Mountain towering above, in Gardens, one of the oldest suburbs in Cape Town. You can easily stroll to the stunning Company Gardens and the Cape Town city centre. Kloof Street is also within easy walking distance which brims with trendy restaurants and shops. Your first day will allow you to relax and get into the flow of Cape Town living.

Day 2:CAPE TOWN

Today will include a half day Cape Point tour, which will begin with a scenic drive along the Atlantic coast. You will pass through the cosmopolitan suburb of Sea Point and Camps Bay with its glorious views of the Twelve Apostles, part of the Table Mountain range. From here we travel to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, comprising over 17,300 acres of indigenous fauna and flora. Here we can see a variety of wildlife that includes baboons, rhebok, Cape Mountain zebra, bontebok and the elusive eland. The reserve is also one of the world’s largest breeding grounds for tortoises. Bird-watchers, too, will find many fine species to observe.

The majestic coastline offers drama worthy of being called “Nature’s Greatest Show.” We’ll be able to see the union of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans (as per legend), and may even feel the brisk wind that is dubbed the “Cape Doctor” for its presumed curative powers. Following the coastline along False Bay, we’ll return to Cape Town by way of the Simon’s Town (optional, own account & time permitting visit to Penguin colony), Fish Hoek fishing village and Muizenberg. We return to Cape Town, passing the University of Cape Town, Rhodes Memorial and the Groote Schuur Hospital.
