8:00am - 17:00PM
Perched upon the banks of the beautiful Rufiji River, this tented camp in Selous Game Reserve offers spectacular views across the hippo-filled river. Visitors are not only treated to game drives but boating safaris, safari walks, and fly-camping, too. This is truly wild, untamed Africa, in an area rich with game. Get off the usual safari track for a whirlwind week of wildlife-viewing in the southern circuit of Tanzania. The reserves and national parks of this region are remote and much less frequented by travelers, offering exceptional exploration.
Relaxing sunsets along the river. From Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam board a light aircraft to the Selous Game Reserve. At the Selous airstrip, you’ll be met by your guide and transferred by road to the camp. The cottages being open-fronted, allow panoramic views of the river enabling you to see witness the flight of the Kingfishers and the frolicking of the hippos and feel the cooling breeze from the water. The lodge is situated on the banks of the Rufiji River in the Selous Game Reserve, where wildlife is abuzz with activity. Spend the afternoon on a boat safari, a relaxing and tranquil way to view the prolific birdlife and watch animals come down to the river to drink. Sleep under the night sky as you are lullabied into a peaceful night's rest by the vibrant bird and animal life.
Thrilling walking safari in the vast Selous Game Reserve. Wake up early and take a walk on the wild side as you venture out into the surprises of the wilderness. Alongside an armed ranger, you will be able to traverse slowly across the ever-changing landscapes and vegetation of the untouched area surrounding the camp. Your flush toilet and shower have hot and cold running water so you can enjoy dusty walks in the bush without the fear of running out of clean water for a shower afterward. Watch as flocks of pelicans occupy the shallow shores of the river and how other animals make their way down to the river's edge to get a sip of water. Birding in the Selous is an exciting activity - for both casual birders and birding enthusiasts. Depending on the season, there are various species of resident and migrant birds. Return to camp for a late breakfast and a well-deserved relaxing few hours on your veranda or cool off in the pool. In the afternoon venture out for a game drive stopping for sundowners next to one of the lakes watching the sky’s changing colors reflected on the lake’s surface.
Picnics on the shoreline. Days in the Selous are all about exploring the hidden gems of the area. Go on full-day game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles encounter major species like elephants, buffalo, lions, and many plains game. Cover a wide range of wilderness as you receive an unfiltered view of the surroundings, allowing you to photograph your trip. Go out for the whole day taking a picnic lunch with you to Stiegler's Gorge. Or set out before breakfast and drive into a clearing where a breakfast table has been set up for you, complete with chairs, crisp linen, and an open fire for cooking breakfast. Relax in the shade of palm trees as you enjoy your meal, staring onto the lakeshore of Lake Tagalala.
On the last day of your quick escape from reality into the African wilderness, you’ll board a light aircraft flight to Arusha Airport, for your onward travel arrangements.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more. We visited the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, the Victoria Falls Tour and a number of national parks in both countries.
Rhino tracking was a real adventure! We had tremendous further game drives and saw very many animals - we did the Big Five. We had much more Victoria Falls Activities than planned and enjoyed very much.We strongly recommend Falcon Safaris to everyone planning a trip to Southern Africa and East Africa.
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing. Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
