Our Cape Golf self-drive tour allows you to get away for a few days break to enjoy the scenic delights, good weather, and excellent golf courses of Cape Town and the Winelands. You can take this golf tour in South Africa as a week away from the office, or you can combine it with a safari. As it's a self-drive holiday, there’s nothing to stop you from adding on a night or two if you wish. This self-drive holiday is ideal for a couple or a group of friends.
Highlights
- This tour can also be taken on a private escorted basis. It is most cost-effective with a group of 4 to 6 people.
- In our itinerary, we outline when you are most likely to play these rounds but this is subject to change (in case of club matches etc) and also your preferences for tee-off times.
- If you really want to focus on golf, then there's time to add an additional game (at extra cost).
Route & Itinerary
7 Days / 6 Nights
1
Day 1:
Arrive at Cape Town International. Collect your luggage and clear passport control. Head to Avis where you’ll collect your hired vehicle and drive to Stellenbosch Hotel, located in the heart of the historic centre of Stellenbosch. Check in and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2:
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before heading out to De Zalze Golf Course. The De Zalze Golf Course was designed by Peter Matkovich who has made the most of this stunning setting and created a course that places a premium on accuracy. Explore Stellenbosch and surrounds at your own pace after golf.

Day 3:
Meet your guide at reception after breakfast. Today you’ll embark on a full day wine tasting tour. The Cape Winelands are surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and fertile green valleys. The region has a Mediterranean climate and the winter rainfall of the south-western Cape helps producing some of the best wines in the world. Visit famous wine estates around Franschhoek such as Boschendal and La Motte before returning to the hotel.

Day 4:
Tee off at Stellenbosch Golf Course after breakfast. The course is well protected from the wind as the relatively narrow fairways are lined with trees. Hole 8 (par 5) requires for instance an absolutely straight stroke in order for the ball not to land in vines or bushes. Surrounded by mountains and vineyards, this scenic course is in excellent condition and presents a fair challenge with some memorable holes.

Day 5:
Meet your guide at reception for your second full day wine tour. Today you’ll explore the famous Stellenbosch Wine Route. You’ll also visit monuments and places of historic interest that tells the story of this region’s rich past, dating back to the early days of the Dutch and French settlers of the 1600’s. Visit famous wine farms such as Rust en Vrede and Delaire Graff. Return to the hotel before dinner.

Day 6:
Have a delicious breakfast before teeing off at Pearl Valley Golf Course. Although no individual can lay claim to the overall design of Pearl Valley, the masterplan was shaped by the vision of Jack Nicklaus. This golf legend sees the Pearl Valley course as the sum of his knowledge and his experience. Return to the hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 7:
Enjoy breakfast and a relax at the hotel before checking out. Return your vehicle to Avis at Cape Town International. Do some last minute duty free shopping before boarding your flight back home.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. Wonderful trip to Zimbabwe and Botswana with excellent organization and very competent guides
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing.Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.

We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Fabulous, well planned trip
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
