Often called 'Africa for Beginners', this 8 Day Northern Namibia Adventure Safari is a great introduction to the otherworldly landscapes, activities, and culture of Namibia. Kick off the trip in Windhoek, the modern capital, before delving into the Namib Desert for massive dunes, rivers, canyons, and gorges. From here, continue west towards the Atlantic coast for two nights of seaside splendour. Circle back to Windhoek by way of Spitzkoppe—the 'Matterhorn of Namibia'—for some hiking and rock art to finish the adventure.
Departure from Chameleon Guesthouse and Backpackers at 8:30am to Swakopmund. After collecting fresh supplies for lunch the tour goes to the port town of Walvis Bay where you visit the lagoon, which is a protected RAMSAR wetland site.
You may see the many species of bird including Greater and Lesser Flamingos, pelicans, avocets, plovers and the endemic Damara Tern before a short visit to the nearby salt farm.
The Namibia tour return to Swakopmund where your guide will assist those wishing to book optional adventure activities such as sand boarding, quad biking, scenic flights, parachuting, dolphin cruises to name but a few, which you have time for this afternoon and tomorrow morning.
Overnight in comfortable twin / double rooms with en-suite bathroom close to the town centre. Laundry facilities are available here. This evening's meal is a group dinner in a restaurant at client's own expense. (Lunch included).
This morning you have free time to visit the Swakopmund museum, explore the town, visit the aquarium or partake in optional activities such as sand boarding, quad biking, or as an optional extra you can visit the spectacular seal colony at Cape Cross. After lunch you depart for Spitzkoppe and arrive late afternoon and set up camp. Dinner prepared by the guide with group assistance. Evening spent under a million stars. Overnight remote bush camp. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
This morning you enjoy a walk to Bushmans Paradise, viewing the ancient bushman paintings and vistas of the vast surrounding desert or you may simply wander around the desert floor. From here your drive takes you through some beautiful and dramatic landscapes arriving at camp late afternoon.
Hobatere borders western Etosha and the camp is set amongst boulders and trees offering seclusion, however, game, including Lion may wander around freely and there are no fences to separate the camp from concession land. Overnight wild camping, dinner prepared by guide and camp assistant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Today you can relax at the camp, enjoy a walk in the surrounding land or watch the game from the hide come to drink at the waterhole, alternatively join an optional day trip through to Opuwo and visit the local himba tribes. These remarkable and proud people live in the Kunene region. Formally cattle/goat herders some still live a traditional life style in this harsh environment.
You will be accompanied by a local guide who will translate all your questions giving you a chance to find how they survive in today's modern world learn about their fascinating culture. You return to camp late afternoon and you can sit at the waterhole watching the game come to quench their thirst. Dinner prepared by guide and camp assistant (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included).
You depart for Etosha entering through the western gate and game driving through to Okaukuejo. This massive park is a haven for wildlife and supports one of the most important ecological and wildlife systems on the continent.
After setting up your tents you take a late afternoon game drive visiting the surrounding waterholes looking for species such as Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Kudu, Giraffe as well as the large herds of Springbok, Zebra and Wildebeest that survive in this region. Dinner prepared by guide and camp assistant. Evening viewing at flood lit waterhole, famous for its visits by black rhinos. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
After a sunrise departure from camp, set off on a full morning game drive visiting various waterholes along the way. Later you can escape the midday heat when you lunch at Halali camp where you can enjoy a swim or an afternoon snooze. Then depart on a late afternoon safari game drive to Namutoni via the famous Etosha Pan. Again you can experience a night at the camp's flood lit waterhole viewing Africa's nocturnal wildlife. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
You'll enjoy an early morning game drive before departing Etosha on the eastern side. You have a short stop at Lake Otjikoto before collecting fresh supplies at Tsumeb and continuing on to Hoba Meteorite, the largest meteorite in the world for lunch. You arrive late afternoon at Waterberg Bush camp at the eastern end of the Plateau.
Witness the fabulous colours of the lichen growing on the rock face of the plateau at sunset from the top of the plateau directly above our camp and enjoy the views across the Kalahari. There are plenty of animals wandering freely in this area such as Eland, Ostrich, Springbok, Kudu and Impala. Dinner prepared by guide and camp assistant. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Your guide will lead you on a short hike through the ravine at the base of the plateau. After brunch you return to Windhoek via the Okahandja Craft Markets for those last minute gifts. You arrive at Chameleon Guesthouse where you can enjoy an after safari drink and share your memories of your safari. Breakfast & Lunch.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more. We visited the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, the Victoria Falls Tour and a number of national parks in both countries.
Rhino tracking was a real adventure! We had tremendous further game drives and saw very many animals - we did the Big Five. Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing.Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
