Mfuwe Lodge is the place to encounter the freedom and spirit of the real Africa. The Lodge allows the visitor a special glimpse of Africa, as she was – untouched, unspoilt, and unforgettable. Here exciting wilderness adventures are matched by the enchantment of the lodge, the warm welcome from the staff and the courtesy and efficiency of service. Each of Mfuwe’s luxury chalets is decorated with superb attention to detail and is equipped with everything from a refrigerator to shampoo and mosquito repellent. Each sunken bath has its own private view of the lagoon. What better way to relax and forget the pressures of city life than to soak in the sights and sounds of the African bush? View the rich wildlife from your own wide deck. Game activity at the lagoon continues day and night as breeding herds in abundance come to quench their thirst. For quieter moments the nature conservation library with its own deck shaded by giant ebony trees, offers a unique collection of antiquarian books and modern reference material.
Nights 3, 4, 5 You will be transferred and stay on an all-inclusive basis for three nights at one or two of the following Bush camps. Kuyenda. The chalets are rustic but very comfortable and offer a really authentic bush experience. Large spacious beds, with mosquito netting and colourful covers, an abundance of storage space and all facilities en-suite (shower, toilet and washbasin). The bathroom is open to the stars and you need to order the hot water for the shower in advance thus epitomising what a safari is all about. The main dining area, sitting room and bar are in a small open fronted thatched structure in the centre of the small camp and this is the nucleus of all activities. As Kuyenda, like all the camps, is inside the National Park itself, big game action happens on your doorstep. It is a wonderful walking area and activities are tailored to the client’s needs. Game activities include walking safaris and combination walking and driving.
Chamilandu. Chamilandu offers comfort, class and beauty in one of the Luangwa Valleys prime remote river locations. The decor of the 2-meter high tree house chalets is a tasteful blend of wrought iron and brass. Open to a 180° vista, the front of each tree house chalet provides the exciting frame for all of Luangwa Valleys wildlife. The four poster double beds enjoy a birds eye view over the waters of the Luangwa River with the magnificent Nchindeni Hills as the backdrop. A series of seven ox-bow lagoons around Chamilandu yield diverse habitats and attracts abundant wildlife. Specializing in guided walking safaris, The Bushcamp Company prides itself on top class guides and offers guests the chance to explore the area around camp on foot. The surrounding forest of evergreen shade trees form a majestic backdrop for those seeking the unique African experiences.
Day 6 You will be transferred to Mfuwe Lodge and then on to the Mfuwe Airport for your connecting flight to the Lower Zambezi which flies via Lusaka. On arrival at Jeki airstrip the Old Mondoro team will be there to transfer you to Old Mondoro where you will spend your first night Night 6 The concept of Old Mondoro is simple – to step back from the ultra-luxurious lodges seemingly springing up everywhere, and rather provide guests with an authentic remote safari that concentrates on the wildlife and bush experience. Where the call of the hyena replaces the hum of a generator, where harsh electric light is replaced by the soft glow of a lantern, where some of the best guides in Africa will help guests experience a closer look at one of Africa’s finest wildlife sanctuaries. The “bush chalets”, resting on temporary slabs, have en-suite facilities with flush toilets, canvas bucket showers and washbasins. Paraffin lanterns provide natural lighting. The bush chalets are left with open views during the day, and at night canvas drop-down blinds with windows are lowered to provide more privacy and security. The Main Tent, which serves as a lounge and dining area, rests under a Winter Thorn tree and next to a Sausage Tree overlooking the Zambezi. A traditional bush kitchen supplies outstanding meals and fresh bread baked daily from a homemade oven. The entire experience is unpretentious and uncomplicated, but promises a unique safari that gives guests the best bush experience possible.
Day 7 You will be transferred to Chiawa Camp for a 2 night stay
Night 7 & 8 An exquisite location under a shady grove of mahogany trees, in the heart of big game country with expansive views of the mighty Zambezi River. Chiawa Camp consists of 8 spacious, well-ventilated safari tents, each set on its own elevated wooden platform under shade with a panoramic view of the Zambezi,. A refreshing dip in our Plunge Pool is most welcome during the warmer months of September and October. Chiawa Camp has a carefully positioned viewing hide overlooking the confluence of the Zambezi & Chowe Rivers, providing excellent, peaceful viewing of birds and the large mammals, often including the big cats!
On the final day of your Lower Zambezi vacation, you will depart from the lodge in a road transfer to Jeki Airstrip. Here, you will board a flight to Lusaka Airport, where you will meet your onward travel arrangements.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more. We visited the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, the Victoria Falls Tour and a number of national parks in both countries.
Rhino tracking was a real adventure! We had tremendous further game drives and saw very many animals - we did the Big Five. We had much more Victoria Falls Activities than planned and enjoyed very much.We strongly recommend Falcon Safaris to everyone planning a trip to Southern Africa and East Africa.
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing. Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
We love Africa's diversity and create amazing trips for you. With 30+ years of experience, we customize every trip just for you.
