The Pangolin Voyager Houseboat is ideal for a relaxing holiday on the Chobe River. The elegant houseboat offers guests a unique experience of the Chobe National Park as they’ll be cruising along in comfort. The Pangolin Voyager cruises during brunch and when the midday sun is blazing. Guests can relax on the partially shaded upper deck or enjoy the comfort of the lounge or a delicious meal in the dining area. Guests can visit the local village where many of the crew members come from and go game viewing on the additional eight-seater boat. There is also a tender boat available for scenic boat rides or transfers. The boat trips usually take place at first light or a few hours before sunset, which are the best times for game viewing. The captain and crew are great at what they do. They’re friendly, helpful and make guests feel comfortable during their cruise.
The Chobe River forms the border between Namibia and Botswana. The Pangolin Voyager cruises down the Namibian side of the Chobe River with the Chobe National Park on the Botswana side, where guests can see a tremendous amount of game. The Chobe River is unique because it sometimes flows in the opposite direction! It converges with the Zambezi River which floods at certain times of the year, causing the Chobe to flow backwards.
Guests stay in cabins with twin or double beds, depending on their choice. The bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and solar-powered air-conditioners run during times that guests are most likely to be in their rooms. The air-conditioner is centrally controlled to manage the limited supply of energy from the battery.
On the middle level of the boat there are shared living and dining areas as well as a bar. The large glass doors offer a great view of the river and its inhabitants. The partially shaded upper deck is ideal for game viewing and star-gazing.
You can set up your own itinerary on this trip. Guests love the morning and afternoon activities on the custom 8-seater boat or additional tender boat for general game viewing. The optional village visit is free of charge. Tiger fishing is available during season at an additional charge.
Featuring five en-suites, these cabins can be configured into either double or twin-bedded rooms. They are eloquently decorated with African rosewood furnisher and Egyptian cotton linens. All the cabins contain built-in cupboards, centralised air conditioning, plenty of plug points and a fan. The bathrooms in each cabin feature a shower with complimentary shower gel and shampoo.
On the middle deck, you will find the main living area comprising of a lounge and dining area. Four daily meals are served on the large dining table thanks to the on board chef. When the sun rises, you can enjoy muffins, cereal, tea and coffee before heading off on a morning game viewing expedition. When you have had your full, head back onto the Pangolin Voyager for a scrumptious breakfast – both continental and full English. Late afternoon means its time for high tea before heading off for an afternoon gaming activity. Afterwards, enjoy a cold beverage while the sunsets relaxing in the comfort of a day well spent. To follow is a three-course evening meal concluded with a nightcap of your choice. The lounge is perfect for relaxing by offering comfortable leather sofas and single chairs. The informative library offers a variety of books that will help enhance your safari experience.
The open-air top deck is the best place to do some viewing or star gazing. For those wanting to just kick back with a sundowner and lie around on a sun lounger, there’s no better place to be.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more. We visited the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, the Victoria Falls Tour and a number of national parks in both countries.
Rhino tracking was a real adventure! We had tremendous further game drives and saw very many animals - we did the Big Five. We had much more Victoria Falls Activities than planned and enjoyed very much.We strongly recommend Falcon Safaris to everyone planning a trip to Southern Africa and East Africa.
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing. Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
