Shindzela Tented Camp is a small, eco friendly tent camp in the Timbavati Game Reserve, where animal lovers will leave with a warm African memory in their heart. Sit on your private veranda in front of your tent, and coalesce with the surrounding lush bush. Let a blanket of hushed air cover you at dawn, and peek at the hippos taking their morning splash in the waterhole, only a stones throw away. Shindzela is an unfenced camp, and will fulfill all your safari desires: the Big Five, thrilling game drives, animals roaming through the camp, home cooked soul warming food, South African hospitality, stunning night skies studded with stars; it is simply nature at is best. This is the real deal.

In a bygone era, safari was all about the sights, sounds and smells of Africa. Get a hold of this authentic feeling when you sleep under canvas. Each of the canvas tents at Shindzela Tented Camp has a thatch grass roof, to keep you cool in the African heat and cosy in the winter. Tents are built on wooden decks and come with a private veranda. Six of the eight tents have a view at the waterhole across the camp. Tent number seven and eight are more remote and slightly further from the main area, overlooking the dry riverbed. Your room has everything you need: mosquito nets, comfortable beds with fresh linen, moisturizing South African-made amenities (like body lotion, body wash and insect repellent), and a private en-suite bathroom with hot shower and soft towels. All tents are equipped with eco friendly solar lighting. And talk about reconnecting with nature: the tents don’t have electrical outlets. But no worries: there is a charging station in the main area. As is a WiFi connection, although you might feel like switching off – not just your devices - for a while.
