Travelers looking for an authentic safari experience in the continent of Africa should not miss visiting Zimbabwe. The country is famed for its wildlife, adventure, dramatic landscapes, and warm and friendly people while offering some of the best experiences for safari-goers.
If you are also someone who is researching on planning your next Trip to Zimbabwe, all you need to know now is the Zimbabwe Safari Cost. So, to assist you with your research, we have tried to break down all the most important cost factors of a safari. We have also tried to include some of the forgettable factors so that in the end we would try and give you an average budget estimate of Safari Prices in Zimbabwe.
“Various factors will determine the Zimbabwe Safari Cost. As a guideline, a 7-day mid-range private tour starts at about $2200 per person, whereas a luxury package starts at about $3300 per person. A 3-day budget safari in the country can start at around $600 per person.”
So, let’s delve into the details of the big question – How much does a Zimbabwe Safari Cost?
Solo travel to Zimbabwe will cost more money than those who travel in groups. The main advantage of traveling in a group is that the prices are shared. So, prefer going on a Zimbabwe Safari with friends or family or joining shared group tours.
The various prices that can be shared among the group members on Holidays in Zimbabwe are vehicle costs, transportation fees, and fees for the guides. The travelers can also try and share the rooms among themselves to save a little penny. This is why budget travelers are often advised to travel in groups or join group tours.
All travelers on Adventure Holidays In Zimbabwe can either go for a guided safari or take a self-drive safari. Guided Safari are costly, pre-planned, and ensure comfort to travelers, whereas self-drive safaris are all about affordable trips around the country.
The cost of a professional safari guide in Zimbabwe can vary from as low as $20 per day to as high as $100 per day. Specialized guides with knowledge and expertise in one area tend to charge more.
The primary factors determining the cost of Zimbabwe Safari are the type of Safari and the length of the trip. Other secondary factors include the travel season, destination, and safari activities.
Yet, the type of Safari will always remain the most important factor that affects Zimbabwe Holiday Safari Cost. It is because all important cost aspects, like styles of accommodations, group size, and transportation options, fall under the type of safari you choose for Zimbabwe Travel.
Now, let’s look at the above-mentioned variables and how they can influence the overall Zimbabwe Safari Cost.
It’s inevitable to say that the cost you spend is directly impacted by the length of the trip. Generally, the more the length of the trip, the less you are going to pay on per day basis.
Two ways you can time your Tours To Zimbabwe in such a way that the overall safari prices are reduced.
The safari costs will be far lower at a place where self-drive and camping safari options are available. Other exclusive places which offer stay-in luxurious hotels and tented camps will be highly-priced.
Solo travellers on a Safari to Zimbabwe will have to bear more expenses than visitors who travel in groups. This is because when you travel in groups, sharing all the costs becomes one important aspect. For this reason, it is often recommended that people travelling on a budget should always travel in groups to save some money.
The accommodation prices take up the major share of the budget. Luxurious hotels and tented camps can cost around $200 per night per person. But, there are affordable options if you don’t want to spend a fortune on your safari.
Getting around in customized safari vehicles is generally considered a comfortable and affordable option for game viewing. This option is often available with most camps and lodges. However, travelers opting for budget travel are often provided with mini-buses that are neither comfortable nor properly designed for game viewing.
The higher the cost of a safari, the more exclusive your experience is going to be. On the other hand, traveling on a low budget also means that there will be masses of other people surrounding you and the travel experience would be public.
Generally, visiting a large park with an abundance of big mammals will cost you more. Plus, there are wide arrays of activities apart from game drives that are offered in the national parks.
Most of them are voluntary ones. If you are interested in taking part in any of them, then it is quite obvious that you have to pay more. Thus, indirectly affecting the overall safari cost.

The cost of a camping Safari in Zimbabwe can depend on several factors such as duration, luxury level, and the activities included in the package.
Camping equipment, transportation, and park entrance costs are included in the safari package. However, sometimes meals and other activities may not be included in the original price.
On average, one-week Zimbabwe Family Safari can cost somewhere from US $ 3000 to US $ 7000 or more per person. However, it is also possible to find more budget-friendly options by choosing a modest itinerary.
You can choose to stay in basic camping and lodge accommodations and reduce the overall cost to around US $ 800 to US $ 3000 per person.
The flora and fauna of Zimbabwe offer the best opportunities for photographic safaris. Any Zimbabwe Safari from July to October is best for game-viewing and capturing the wildlife on the camera. The months of November to April are optimal for bird watchers.
The magnificence of Victoria Falls can be best captured from August to November when the water level is low. The falls are at their visible best against the blue sky.
Specific photographic highlights comprise the rock art positions and granite boulders of Matobo National Park, the incredible sceneries of Mana Pools National Park, and the distinctive stone ruins of Great Zimbabwe.

When talking about Safaris in African countries, the most obvious activity that features to mind are the game drives. But Zimbabwe has got a lot more options for safari enthusiasts apart from traditional game drives. The other activities which are on offer in a Zimbabwe Safari are often termed “optional/voluntary activities”.
This is because guests in Zimbabwe have to pay extra money to take part in these activities. The more activities you choose to partake in, the more exclusive your safari experience will be. However, it’s also seen that travelers going for budget safaris, generally do not engage in optional or voluntary activities due to budget restrictions.

Zimbabwe experiences two tourist seasons –the High Season and the Low Season. These two safari seasons affect the number of visitors coming to Zimbabwe for travel which in turn directly impacts the price variation in both seasons.
The high safari season in Zimbabwe is the dry season extending from May to October when a large number of tourists visit the country. This causes an upsurge in demand for accommodations, which ultimately results in a doubling of the prices. Hence, the safari cost is increased around double-fold in the high season.
On the other hand, the low season witnesses fewer tourists arriving in the country. This is why most accommodations and tour operators offer good discounts on prices to attract travellers.
The variation of average Safari Prices In Zimbabwe for different comfort and luxury packages with different tourist seasons is represented below:

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more. We visited the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, the Victoria Falls Tour and a number of national parks in both countries.
Rhino tracking was a real adventure! We had tremendous further game drives and saw very many animals - we did the Big Five. We had much more Victoria Falls Activities than planned and enjoyed very much.We strongly recommend Falcon Safaris to everyone planning a trip to Southern Africa and East Africa.
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing. Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
