Ready for Chobe Day Trips with Falcon Safaris ?
Chobe National Park is a beautiful park that is situated in the northern corner of Botswana. It is a sizable area that is solely reserved for the roaming of wild animals and is famous for its large elephant and lion populations. It is the third largest national park in the country and is about the size of Northern Ireland. It is so diverse and is home to a lot of different species of Southern Africa.
The park is conveniently close to the borders of Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Zambia making it easily accessible. This region is a top choice for safari fans because of its diverse ecosystems, sceneries, and variety of animals. Through the park, the Chobe River has carved out floodplains and woods.
It is important to note that Chobe can be a full day trip or a half day trip. Here we have explained the full day trip and the half day is the same, except that you will be back soon after lunch.
Around 7 a.m., the bus or transport you are going with will pick you up from where you will be staying and you will begin the journey to the border. Take note that you will be driving through a national park, so keep an eye out for wildlife! You will stand in line at customs upon reaching the border before crossing over to the opposite side, where another bus will be waiting.
Don't worry, the guides will help you through the process, so you don't board the wrong bus or get lost. You will then take a short drive from the border to the hotel you'll be using as your main base of stay. All the hotels that the various suppliers utilize for the day excursion have river entrances so it makes it easier to go straight for a cruise.
You will be cruising on the beautiful Chobe River. If you have cruised on the Zambezi, you will also enjoy this unique and relaxing experience. Elephants may be seen here crossing the river, as well as sizable herds of buffalo. Crocodiles and hippos are also very likely to be spotted!
Lunch will be served when you return to the hotel. After having lunch, you will embark on a 4WD safari into a different area of the park. Then, you'll get the chance to examine the scene from a fresh angle when you go on the game drive in the Chobe National Park. You will have fun spotting animals and enjoying the lovely sunset as you sip on cold refreshments and snacks.
You will then return to the hotel to board the bus after the safari is over. They will drop you off at your hotel so that you get ready to head back to the border. You will be heading back at a predicted time of 17h30.
Chobe National Park is known as the land of the giants due to its large herds of elephants and lion population. The cheetah, wild dog, lion, leopard, and hyena are the main predators in Chobe National Park. Also roving the area in search of water and refreshment are sizable herds of elephant and buffalo. Although the rhino population has been severely reduced, it is slowly but successfully being restored into the park's private portions.
Most Commonwealth nations, EU nations, the UK, and the US are granted a visa upon arrival to Botswana, which is typically valid for 90 days. You can pay in South African rand, Euros, or British pounds for this, which typically costs roughly $30 USD.
A KAZA visa, if you're qualified, is the best choice if you're traveling from Victoria Falls.
The KAZA visa allows unlimited entrance for 30 days into both Zambia and Zimbabwe as well as one day travel to Botswana because the Victoria Falls are located on both sides of the border between the two nations. As a result, this offers greater value and expedited passport clearance because you only require a stamp.
The dry season lasts from about May through late September or early October. The ideal time to visit Chobe National Park is around this time. It's best toward the end of the season when the ground is entirely dried out. This draws a large number of animals, including hundreds of African elephants, towards the Chobe River.
The elephants' predators, lions, also accompany the vast herds of elephants.
As a result, traveling during these months offers the best chance to see a diverse range of creatures. By boat on the Chobe River, is such a good time that presents some exceptional up-close encounters with nature.

We travelled with Falcon Safaris in Zimbabwe and Botswana for 16 days. Falcon designed a wonderful trip with private guide to the most interesting sites in both countries. The organization of the whole trip was excellent, flights within the country, accommodation and activites. The guides were very knowledgable and told us a lot about the countries, their history, people, economy and much more. We visited the Great Zimbabwe Ruins, the Victoria Falls Tour and a number of national parks in both countries.
Rhino tracking was a real adventure! We had tremendous further game drives and saw very many animals - we did the Big Five. We had much more Victoria Falls Activities than planned and enjoyed very much.We strongly recommend Falcon Safaris to everyone planning a trip to Southern Africa and East Africa.
Our Consultant Vimbai was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed at the Elephant hills hotel which was nothing short of amazing. Our activities included a helicopter flight, dinner cruise as well as a morning game drive. All the activities were absolutely amazing.
We worked with Gertrude to schedule and organize everything and she did an excellent job. I asked a lot of questions via e-mail and she answered everyone in a timely helpful manner. Our guide at Victoria Falls was also great. He met us at the airport, provided a thoughtful tour of the Falls and got us to our next guide in Botswana. Our lodgings at River View Lodge were just as described- very comfortable and excellent food. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. If I had to do it again I would arrange a morning boat ride as well. We only did the sunset boat rides and they were the high point of our entire trip- we saw so many animals and our guide was very knowledgeable. Just a great experience. Our lodgings at Oddball's Enclave was rustic and we loved it. So great to disconnect from the world for a bit. Leo, our guide, was the best - got us out and about, saw fantastic wildlife and got back to camp safely each time. Doc manages the camp so well. This whole trip was planned and organized by Falcon Safaris and we could not have been happier.
Falcon safaris have given my the correct advice with excellent service. The only suggestion will be to work closer with the lodges to confirm bookings as soon as possible. We have booked and pay our deposit a year in advance. We have only receive our final convermation from Chobe Safari lodge a week before departure. I do realize its not within your controle but with limit alternatives and a group of 14 people it becomes an issue to find alternative accomodation if the booking was cancelled.
We love Africa's diversity and create amazing trips for you. With 30+ years of experience, we customize every trip just for you.
