The Experience

Visitors are picked up from their accommodation and driven to the Zambezi Explorer jetty location. After everyone has boarded, the captain starts the scarcely audible engines and begins to sail the ship around the islands in the upper Zambezi River. The cruise ship, like other cruise companies, keeps a good 4 km (2.49 miles) away from the actual fall.

What Will You See ?

It makes sense that such a sizable body of water would draw a wide variety of fauna from the frequently dry interior. Huge hippo pods can be found in the river, where they have grown accustomed to the excursions and can approach them without risk.
